FTR Design is invited for a second year for the set up of the ramp at the PUSH.ca half-time show during the RIDE ShakeDown 2010, at mont St-Sauveur. The ramp will be open to riding on friday april 2nd and a demo during the PUSH.ca half-time show the 3rd of april. Come out and enjoy the event and show.

Stamp, press, scratch or write your name, initials, alias, love statements, social, political and/or juvenile commentaries at our E-Space exhibit during Montreal’s second annual underground art event Art Souterrain. PASCALE GIRARDIN, STERLING DOWNEY AND YANNICK MALEK will greet you with over 700 raw clay tiles to mark – first come, first serve! Tiles will be fired after the opening night and cemented to large panels on show from march 6th to the 14th.

Ceramic artist Pascale Girardin, in association with Sterling Downey, publisher and founder of Montreal’s graffiti magazine and convention “Under Pressure” and Yannick Malek, innovative skate park designer and owner of FTR Design, have created E-SPACE, a participatory ceramic mural project inspired by graffiti art and tagging.

On February 27th, for one night only, visitors to the Montreal underground Art Souterrain event will be able to leave their mark on fresh clay tiles. These “tagged” tiles will be fired at the artist’s studio then returned to the Art Souterrain site and cemented to large panels on exhibit in the passageway from march 6th to the 14th.

E-SPACE explores the notions of identity, expression and sharing common grounds within the context of public space. E-SPACE is a clay metaphrase on urban art which offers a renewed perspective on such topics as permanence, legitimacy and the very human need to leave our trace behind us.

Project initiator, Pascale Girardin creates installations in the context of public art events using ceramics as her preferred medium to produce artworks that juxtapose the slow, deliberate and permanent process of her craft to our fast paced transient culture.

Sterling Downey has been involved in graffiti culture for the last 18 years, going by the moniker “SEAZ”. Founder of Montreal’s UNDER PRESSURE graffiti convention and publisher of a magazine by the same name, he challenges our perception of public space, ownership, advertising and the ephemeral need for us to leave our mark.

Yannick Malek has been building and designing innovative skate parks for the past 15 years, his most recent project being the No Damn Good Skate park in NDG. Along with his affiliation to street culture, Yannick is involved in the realization and installation of the artwork for this event.

NoDamnGood Skatepark

No Damn Good Skate is a 3,000 sq.ft. facility, in Montreal at 2105 old orchard. Pro-shop, small street course and a “L” shaped bowl. The 1,700sf bowl consists of a 7 feet pool section with pool coping, a 4 and 5 feet area all linked up by corners, a hip, waterfalls, a taco and a over vert pocket.

Riley Boland says “The NoDamnGood bowl is quite possibly the best wood bowl I’ve ever skated.” he goes on to say, “The insane waterfalls that flow out of the middle into the deeper ends makes it a challenge for everyone to shred! The clam pocket that nearly touches the roof is something everyone needs to cruise through! Definitely a solid well built ramp that I would LOVE to skate everyday if I could!!!!!!!!”

TTRB 2009

FTR Design is proud to have taken part in Montréal’s mini-ramp contest on the summer. Everyone loves the ramp that we build for the event.

TTRB is now open to all whom would like to challenge themselves: companies, shops, and the public. Teams of two will be going head to head in elimination until one is titled, Tag Team Ramp Battle Champions 2009.

TTRB is proud once again to take part in the 14th Under Pressure International Graffiti Convention, on the 9th of agust 2009. The location is behind the Foufounes Électriques, downtown Montreal, QC, Canada.

ShakeDown – Push.ca 2009

On April 3rd and 4th at the Shake Down 2009 , FTR Design was invited to take part in the PUSH.CA half-time show with a 5 foot high, 24 feet wide skateboard ramp. Riders like Casey McDonald, Gabriel Veniot, Patrick Tremblay and Thomas Parent put on a very existing show for the spectators who showed up for the event.

TTBR 2008

August 10th, 2008, FTR Design held the firstTag Team Ramp Battleat the Under Pressure Graffiti Convention in collaboration with Rock Star Energy Drink, Split Clothing, and Under Pressure Mag, suport by CIRCA Shoes. The event was a great success with a great caliber of skateboarder like Bob Lasalle, Casey McDonald, Gabriel Veniot, Nick Côté, just to name a few. It was a great contest with a twist. Teams of two ride as one on the ramp. The ramp was of 5 feet high 16 feet wide. hope to see you at the next event in 2009.

UnderPressure 2007

In 2007, FTR Design and Orkus Skatepark* were invited to hold an event within the UnderPressure International Grafitti Convention. The event was a success with riders like Alex Gavin, Casey McDonald, Dan Pageau, Étienne Tanguay who put on a great show for a best trick cash prize.

*Orkus Skatepark is unfortunately closed since 2008

What is the second best thing than marrying the one you love? To have you and all your friends enjoying themselves in perfect harmony! For a skater’s wedding, that means shredding a ramp and making it a memorable wedding.
